Missoni, Milan, circa 1984

All of the Missoni buzz yesterday brought back some great memories. In December of 1984 while I was living in Milan I had the pleasure of working for the Missoni family. As a model, it was my favorite project! For about two weeks I would show up, have my hair done for an hour (no makeup) and then strike a pose for hours. World famous artist Antonio Lopez would do a sketch of me for one full day and then the second day he would paint. Each day we would break for lunch and sit at a large round table with the Missoni family in their office. Friends of the Missoni family or Antonio would pop in to say hello daily. The most interesting regular visitor was Anna Piaggi. I loved all of her crazy hats. Indescribable! 15 years later I ran into Rositta and Ottavio Missoni at a Neiman's event in Dallas. They immediately remembered me and gave me big hugs. They also gave me a copy of their book and signed my image. They were as kind as I remembered them to be. It made the memories even sweeter. Here are a couple of images from the 1985 Spring campaign. The pencil sketch is the original sketch from the casting which about 500 models showed up for. Antonio would do a quick sketch in less than 2 minutes. I was the lucky one!
